Winter Days

Stay warm inside, when it’s cold outside

Yet another rainy weekend or ice-cold evening coming up? There is no need to let the weather get you down. These kind of temperatures are simply yet another chance to enjoy our home, at its very cosiest! The only thing you have to do to make the most of winter moments in your own space, is to add a few details here and there that will transform your home into a much-loved ‘hot spot’ for you, your family and your friends.

Welcoming Warmth

If you have an open plan living room, try and cordon off some spaces by creating small corners with sofas and coffee tables that ‘trap’ the heat where you need it to be. Also, make sure you hang curtains over your windows, even if you have blinds or shutters and do not need them for shade, because they will ‘block out’ the cold much more than you can imagine.
Place quilts with warming microfibers on large sofas, so your guests will feel free to nestle into them whenever and wherever they want to. You can also create a welcoming warm atmosphere with low lighting illuminated by desk lamps placed in various parts of the room.
Don’t forget that shaggy carpets are back in fashion this year, so select the ones you like and opt for a layering composition with other carpets of various sizes and designs, especially in areas where family and friends gather frequently.

Separate heating solutions for each space

You have probably already chosen your home heating solution this year, but have you chosen solutions that are right for each area of the house? Each room reacts differently to heaters, depending on their size and use, so selecting individual heating products for each individual room will make your entire house much warmer, faster and more effectively.
For example, the living room can be heated in its entirety if you have a large fireplace and know how to feed it consistently with quality firewood. The same applies for a wood stove oven or heater that create a cosy atmosphere while most can also heat up your space with affordable and sustainable briquettes
The kitchen is often deemed as the coldest room in the house. A convector or kerosene heater is perfect for this area; especially as we usually tend to keep kitchen windows partially open all winter long.
Stylish glass panel heaters and perfect for the hallway, while an oil radiator, air/fan heater or halogen heater are all great for study areas or small home offices, as they heat up intimate areas in no time at all.
Investing in an air-conditioning unit with a good heat transfer system is always a good idea for the bedroom. Make sure you add a few more thermal accessories such as electric blankets for the bed, and dehumidifiers for healthier breathing throughout the evening.

Create your own personal corners

Furnish your own compositions throughout the house that inspire solo relaxation. If you are a book lover for example, get yourself a super comfortable rocking chair and place it next to a gas heater so you can enjoy a warm cup of tea in your favourite mug, while reading.
Another idea is to add a stylish bean bag and plenty of throws and pillows in your bedroom, creating a small living room area in your most personal space, so that you can relax and unwind, even when it is not yet bedtime.
